We have been appointed auditors of a School Sports Partnership Programme being run by Roade School Sports College in Northamptonshire.
This is part of the School Sports Co-ordinators initiative, a National Programme introduced in 2001. Its aims are to improve the quality and quantity of after school sports and inter-school competition, and involves a wide range of partners, including local education authorities, national governing bodies of sports, local sports developments officers and others.
The SSCo has five key principles: -
- Support for PE
- Integrated sports development and partnership working
- Focus on disadvantage and inclusion
- Schools working together in families
- A whole school approach
How does it work?
The programme is managed locally by the Sports College. In the case of Roade School, there is a Partnership Development Manager with six School Sport Co-ordinators based in secondary schools in Northamptonshire with an associated family of 66 Primary Schools. The first year of the programme ended 31 August 2004 and we will be auditing the first Annual Period Report.
